Kuruk Ratenhae'akun [Koo-rook Rah-ten-hah-ay-ay-koon]

Section 1: Basic Information

Last Name, First Name: Ratenhae'akun, Kuruk
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Birthday: September 11th
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 155lbs

Specializations: Kenjutsu, Kyujutsu, Taijutsu, Ijutsu
Starting Weapon(s): 2 Daggers

Rank: Kenshi
Loyalties: Ronin

Section 2: Personality

Personality: Kuruk Ratenhae’akun has an odd personality compared to any normal 16 year-old boy. Raised with the Natives of the Blackfoot Tribe in the Northern Forest near Elkwood, he is a naïve young man. His ideals are like his Native kin, believing profusely in the Spirits of this world, as well as having a simpler understanding of the ways of men. He is also quite intelligent, and was always interested in modern technology as he was growing up, which was an idea often shunned by elders of his tribe. This interest has inspired him to become a scholar. As he was raised as a Native warrior, to thrive off the land alone and fight the savage animals and greedy poachers for survival, he now strives to enhance his educational side, studying philosophy, working on his inventions, and writing poetry.
Likes: Kuruk likes mostly simple aspects of life, as the simple things are all he has ever known. He enjoys hunting for prey. He was the best hunter in his tribe and took pride in making sure every kill was a flawless one. He also enjoys simplicity itself, because if men were simpler, the world would be a better place to live in.
Dislikes/Fears: Kuruk dislikes few things, as he was taught to enjoy all of the Spirits’ gifts. He does dislike those who would restrict freedom however; as one of the best parts of living in any Native tribe was the freedom they practiced. He does not like government however, because he believes in all their complexity, that they are corrupt. He fights for a simple freedom. As far as fears go, he does not fear anything. At first, he feared jutsu, as it was preached through his village as being “evil magic,” but as time went on, and he witnessed people applying it practically and frequently, as well as battles he has read about in his studies, he has come to accept it as a perfectly fine means of fighting. Although, he cannot use many forms of it himself.
Motivation: The motivation for all actions Kuruk Ratenhae’akun performs is a motivation of revenge. Because of the incident in his childhood that left his face scarred and his family dead, he has grown a deep hatred for the mysterious evil organization called the Raksaka. He makes inventions for weapons, studies battle strategies, and writes poems of anger. He trains with his bow and knives every day with a single purpose: To bring the Raksaka to ruin.

Section 4: Background

Character History: Kuruk Ratenhae’akun was born into the Blackfoot Tribe of the Northern forests a bit more than sixteen years ago. His mother’s name was Korah Ratenhae;akun, and his father was Kuzon Ratenhae’akun. They had been “unified” (the Tribe’s version of marriage) for twenty years. In the time before his birth, his parents Korah and Kuzon had been unable to conceive a child. As they grew older, the chances of having a child became slimmer and slimmer. After praying to Riole, the Eagle Spirit, they finally conceived a child. They named the child Kuruk, or “bear,” because the bear was said to be the eagle’s best friend in Blackfoot folklore. Kuruk Ratenhae’akun was said to be a miracle child merely because of his unlikely birth. He was blessed with the mark of the Eagle, as well as the mark of the Bear, and their symbols were tattooed onto his back, one on each shoulder blade.

Kuruk grew up as a normal child, spending the first ten years of his life playing, learning to hunt and fish, and helping his mother like any other Native child grew up doing. He honed his hunting especially, and became well known for his above-average perceptive skills. He used a bow mostly to hunt, and for this he got the nickname Eagle Eye. This was an exaggeration of his eyesight, but it was no doubt that it was still above average (I’m going to make his eyesight the same as mine, which is 10/10 instead of 20/20. It’s not like superhuman, but it certainly helps pick out details, especially from far away, that most people miss). His abilities with hunting knives were also renowned through the tribe, which was odd for one so young. His most famous feat was killing a bear with no more than his stone tomahawk and stone dagger. Throughout his childhood, he lived as successful a life as he could, that is, until he started becoming interested in modern technology and weapons.

After a group of traders from the village hidden in the Steam came to his village, he noticed many of their modern technology. He was immediately fascinated in their metal daggers and swords separate from his own made of stone and wood. He began trying to learn how to create them, forge them, and wield them. They were excellent additions to his already honed combat abilities, and balanced his strength moreso to offset his lack of elements and ninjutsu that people on the outside world had to their advantages. He loved weapons in particular, but eventually developed a taste for complex machinisms and other practical inventions created by the Empire that ruled the nearby village. One night, he decided that he wanted to learn how to craft a new type of knife by combining a simple pulley machine with a blade. After studying, he had learned of how to do it. He had made his own invention, but he lacked the proper tools to make the idea a reality. He decided he would try to steal supplies from a local camp to make this new weapon. So on that night, he left the village and found himself inside an Empire camp. No one was there though. No one was there sleeping, no guards were there for him to slip by. Nothing. He was curious, but was successful in retrieving the supplies. He left his stone dagger in place of a steel dagger that he stole, put the other supplies in his satchel, and went back to his village.

When he returned, there was nothing of his village left. The entire place had been burnt ot the ground in a matter of hours, leaving no survivors. In shock, Kuruk knelt to the ground and began to weep. The camp had been empty because all of the soldiers had been ransacking the Blackfoot Tribe. But why? Why would they just attack his village? As if to answer his question, a group of three men snuck up on him from behind. Before they attacked, one of them had said, "This little runt had almost escaped too. What a pity?" And the other would say, "Let's off him quickly before we head back to the boss." Kuruk had known enough about the Empire to know that they did not refer to the emperor as "boss." These guys worked for someone else. They attacked, and Kuruk was able to kill one of them, but the other two bested him. The larger man held him by his neck up against a tree trunk. "I am merciful, so I have decided not to kill you, savage," he began, "but only on one condition. This is our opening statement. The world will fear us in time again, but how can anyone fear us if there are no survivors to spread our fear?" In saying this, he let Kuruk go, who then dropped to his knees gasping for breath.

The man continued, "Spread word of this to anyone you find. Let them know that the Raksaka are back." And with a smirk, he lifted his palm up to Kuruk's face, showing him the symbol tattooed on it. He then turned and began to walk away, but he was stopped my Kuruk tugging at his pantleg, still gasping for breath. "What.. is your name.." Kuruk said, struggling. The man turned around curiously. "Leo Mancore, boy. Why do you ask?" Kuruk looked up, staring him in the eye, and said,

"So I can find you."

RP Sample: Bryn T. Orik, the Yamakage of the Mountains, stood at the edge of the cliff of his dwelling overlooking the Anghor Mountains. The cold ripping of the mountain winds tore at his white hair, whipping it back with an unforgiving force. The mountains were a rugged place to live. He wore a long white robe lined with green fur on the inside for protective warmth. The emblem of the Rebellion was plastered vibrantly in red on the back. He wore no shirt underneath and kept it unbuttoned, as he enjoyed showing his scars to the rest of the world. His shape defined him, from his rigid muscle to the deep creviced scars marking dangerous blows from several swords and claws. A plume of smoke rose from the cigar positioned loosely in his mouth, and a grunt escaped his throat. A stern expression crossed his face, as it was rare to see a smile anywhere in these desolate mountains. The Rebellion had just suffered a great loss in the northern forests in a march on the coast, and he had been forced to retreat back to the mountain. Rations had been short as it is, and now he had to support an army not only of his own troops but troops from the Tundra as well. The Rebellion was losing, he was losing.

He had come to the highest spot in his mountains in order to contemplate his next move. His dwelling was the only place in the range that he could see his entire village. He looked down on his people, the people he had sworn to himself to protect. What would he do next? Would he settle down once again to regroup his army? In doing so, the supplies would be cut even shorter than they already were. Or would he try to lash back out at the Empire? No, that would be foolish. It would result in even more lives being lost. The only way was to try to wait out the injuries of the loss, heal up, and send the Tundra warriors home. At least then the mountain soldiers would only have to provide for themselves, but only if they could last spending double the supplies for the time being. Bryn bowed his head and placed his fingers on his forehead. He was confused, didn't know what to do. His father would have known what to do, but Bryn had not had that much experience as Kage, he had only been ruler of this rebellion for a few years. Just then, he had an idea. Perhaps it was time they expanded? He knew of the farmstead just outside of the Anghor Mountains, and he knew of the surplus of crops there. The only issue would be getting the family to trade with a poor rebellion. They could trade weapons, ores, metals, but what good would those be to a farming community? Nonetheless, they needed food, and the fsarmstead was their only hope. Luckily however, Bryn had a personal friend from back in his soldier days that was a member of that very family of farmers. The elder son of the rich and esteemed Tekuta family, and the Shinkage of the Depths, Shizen Tekuta.

It was decided then. Bryn would need to travel to the underwater village, and would need to seek supply allegiance with the Tekuta family, even though their son had already pledged himself as a diplomatic ally. Bryn did not believe in gods, or a single God, he believed in simply intuition, so praying would do nothing to aid this situation. He would simply have to try. He turned into his dwelling in order to gather supplies for the descent of the mountain. He would pack lightly, but would indeed bring several weapons to ensure safety.

After all, the mountains were a rugged place.
