The Hyuga Clan

Bloodline: Byakugan

Bloodline Ability: Members of the Hyūga clan all inherit a powerful dojutsu from the ancestors, it leaves their eyes almost featureless with the absence of both the iris and the (visual) pupils. When the bloodline trait is activated the pupils become seen slightly in the center of the eye in addition to veins branching out from the eye itself becoming pronounced, this is the Byakugan. The primary ability of the Byakugan gives the user a near 360º field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the first thoracic vertebra. Upon activation of the dojutsu, the wielder is granted a field of vision larger than that of normal people. The size of this field is dependent on the clan member's level of power (rank).

The second ability of the dojutsu is the ability to see chakra, chakra flow and even chakra circulation within a living being in color. This ability is utulized by clan members when battling and using their gentle fist style. Though genin have not yet developed their eyes enough all Hyūga of at least chunin rank can see not only the chakra of a living being but also the individual nodes through which it passes, this ability is normally put to the most use in tandem with the gentle fist style to stop or speed the flow of chakra but an advanced user of this ability has great potential as a medical shinobi given the advantage they have over any of their peers.

The third and final ability of the Byakugan is another that is unable to be used by underdeveloped eyes requiring at least special jonin level power. This ability grants not only the ability to see through solid objects within the byakugan's range of sight but also a limited telescopic version of sight that allows them to zoom in on things. Though while focusing in on something with this telescopic sight, as is obvious, their sight on other things is out of focus and blurred.

Clan History: Those born into darkness are always watched and often feared by those born in light, this is the case for the great Hyūga clan though most people fool themselves by masking this fear as respect. In the darkness of the mountain tunnels even long before the formation of the hidden village these people thrived due to their powerful eyes, eventually opening up to others for use of their land such as the Nara, though there has always been a bit of tension between the two families due to early struggles to claim the mountain centuries ago. When the village was formed the people brought in much more light than there had been before and for the first time in generations people were able to clearly see the blank white eyes of the Hyūga, the almost demonic aura given off by people with such a look as well as their comfort in darkness was the root of the fear that grew despite the open and giving nature of the clan. Struggles broke out though due to ridicule from the newcomers, eventually some Hyūga snapped and started attacking people upon insult. Act such as this quickly led to a clan civil war that resulted in one family rising as the level headed leaders and all others being considered branch families that were seen as unstable and sometimes dangerous even though the radical Hyūga movement died out generations ago. Since then there has been much tension between the main and branch families but they keep most if not all of their disputes within the clan so outsiders including the kage are often unaware of any real problems that happen on their land.

Name: Jūkenpō (Gentle Fist Art)

Description: Passive, must have the byakugan active to be performed. When a member of the Hyūga clan goes in for a strike they are able to course chakra through their hands in such a way that it is shot into their opponent's body to close of a tenketsu point which removes 5 chakra from the victim's chakra pool. Use of this ability costs 5 chakra per strike and has no charge time, however by charging up the chakra before hand this ability is able to increse the amount of tenketsu that are sealed off. Every round this ability is charged (maximum of 8 rounds) an extra Tenketsu (5 chakra) is sealed off when the strike lands but it still only costs 5 chakra to the Hyuga caster. While charging up chakra for this ability the caster is unable to charge chakra for other techniques or perform hand seals. No cool down.

Description: Passive, must have the byakugan active to be performed. The Hyuga have always been known for their extremely profound limb control and quick movements. While maintaining the same impeccable accuracy, the user may spend a relatively small amount of chakra to make their limbs able to be controlled and moved at superhuman speeds. This does not make the Hyuga run faster, nor does it make the user able to move this fast while holding a weapon, but essentially with regular taijutsu, 40 punches or kicks can be thrown in one second. It costs 5 chakra to be able to use for one post. No cool down.

Description: Passive, must have the byakugan active to be performed. Like all gentle fist techniques the caster takes some of their own chakra and shoots it into their opponent through direct contact for internal damage. The strike itself consist of striking the opponent, normally in the chest or abdomen, with the 'heel' (the thickest part of the palm closest to the wrist) of their hand to cause a 3 inch diameter bruise that extends an inch deep. This results in a 10% drop in reaction time for either the remainder of the topic or until it has been healed with Ijutsu. 3 round cool down.

Name: Hakkeshō Kaiten (Eight Trigrams Palm Rotation)

Description: Requires a round of charging chakra to be used. The caster releases chakra from every tenketsu in their body then spins rapidly to parry incoming attacks, both creating a rotating shield of chakra around themselves and tossing away any nearby attackers. People and weapons that come into contact with the rotation are tossed away a few feet though no real damage comes of this as it is strictly a defensive technique. 3 round cool down.

Name: Hakke Kūshō (Eight Trigrams Sky Palm)

Description: Requires a round of charging chakra to be used. This technique is similar in practice to Eight Trigrams Palms Rotation, but has a specific target rather than a general area. To perform it, the user precisely pinpoints the enemy's vital points with the Byakugan and releases a high-speed palm thrust. A "vacuum shell" compressed using the Gentle Fist is formed to attack the opponent's vitals from a distance (maximum of 30 feet), blowing them off their feet with tremendous force before they even notice they were hit. 2 round cool down.

Chuunin (C Rank)

Name: Jūkenpō Ichigekishin (Gentle Fist Art One Blow Body)

Description: Requires a charge time equal to hand seals. Similar to palm rotation, the caster releases chakra from every tenketsu in their body though this time they release a larger amount of chakra and no longer require the action of spinning. This is a more localized technique that is useful after being captured. If used when an opponent grabs onto the caster this technique forces them to release grip or take damage that fractures the bones within the parts of the body holding the caster, this results in all affected areas being 10% less effective for the remainder of the topic or until an Ijutsu is applied. If used when caught in a barrier technique this jutsu can be used to help the caster regain freedom. So long as the barrier does not exceed C rank in power this technique can be used to expel it. 5 round cool down.

Description: Requires a charge time equal to hand seals. A stronger variation of the Eight Trigrams Sky Palm technique. Granting the same effects of knocking opponents off their feet though in a larger area while also causing all hit by the technique to lose their breath and thus lose 50% reaction speed for one second. This affects all targets caught within the techniques area of effect and requires the clan member to use both hands rather than just one like the D rank variation. In addition the effects of this technique can be achieved by two members of the Hyuga clan each using the D rank Sky Palm technique and releasing it so that their hands are next to each other. 4 round cool down.

Special Jounin (B Rank)

Name: Zesshō: Hachimon Hōgeki (Last Resort: Eight Gates Bombardment)

Description: Requires a charge time equal to hand seals. Originally designed as a counter method against those who use the strong fist style of taijutsu this technique has been modified to work on all opponents in one way or another. When this technique is activated the byakugan goes a step further than normal and reveals the eight inner gates that regulate the physical power of a shinobi. Using the gentle fist style this new vision can be taken advantage of by either closing them (should the intended target have used a technique that opens one or more of their inner gates) or having a reverse effect from the norm, draining physical power from the victim rather than adding to it. The first round after being hit by this technique, the victim is unable to move at all. After that though they are simply slowed by 50% for three rounds. 8 round cool down.

Note: This technique is unable to close the gates if the victim has opened more than four

Name: Hakke Sanjūni Shō (Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms)

Description: Requires a charge time equal to hand seals. When this technique is activated the caster's byakugan alters their vision to create three glowing green rings with trigrams within them on the ground. Each of these rings extends out five feet from the center point (the caster) putting the center ring at 5 feet, the mid ring at 10 and the outermost ring at 15 feet. In order to perform the 32 palm technique the caster's target must at least be within the outermost ring, after that the chakra exerted takes care of the rest, placing the caster directly in front of their intended target to instantly start striking. Each of the 32 strike takes micro seconds to be performed, the entire combo taking only one and a half full seconds to be completed. This result not only in 32 painful bruises being placed on the victim but also removing their ability to use chakra in any way for four rounds. After the four rounds the victim returns to normal though if they were using a technique at the time of being hit it is ended early. 6 round cool down.

Jounin (A Rank)

When this technique is activated the caster's byakugan alters their vision to create three glowing green rings with trigrams within them on the ground. In order to perform the 64 palm technique the caster's target must at least be within the mid ring, after that the chakra exerted takes care of the rest, placing the caster directly in front of their intended target to instantly start striking. Name: Hakke Hyaku Nijūhachi Shō (Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms)

When this technique is activated the caster's byakugan alters their vision to create three glowing green rings with trigrams within them on the ground. In order to perform the 128 palm technique the caster's target must be within the innermost ring, after that the chakra exerted takes care of the rest, placing the caster directly in front of their intended target to instantly start striking. Unlike the other stages of the multi-palm technique 128 palms is able to strike multiple targets, everything that steps into range is affected. Each of the 128 strike takes micro seconds to be performed, the entire combo taking only and and a half full seconds to be completed. This result not only in 128 painful bruises being placed on the victim but also removing their ability to use chakra in any way for the remainder of the topic.
