Kyōken Koeda Samurai-template

Kyōken Koeda Kyoken-render

Kyōken Koeda

Section 1: Basic Information

Last Name, First Name: Koeda, Kyoken
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Birthday: Nov 20
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 128 lb

Specializations: Kenjutsu, Kyujutsu, Taijutsu, Fuuinjutsu
Starting Weapon(s): Naginata

Rank: Kenshi
Loyalties: Ronin

Section 2: Personality

Personality: Kyo is a simple man who has set himself up to live by the bushido creed, and while most times it is written as a strict morale code for him there are times when the rules are bent but never broken. When that which is honorable, such as serving your lord, comes into direct contradiction with what is right there is a morale crisis in his heart that tears him apart but in the end he always does that which is right.
Likes: Rather fond of more peaceful past time, this young swordsman can often be found playing games like shogi with anyone who has the time to do so. He also has taken a liking to the game of Go, though this was not something found on his island home and thus his experience is much lower and he often loses this one. Apart from games he enjoys eating rice and has a knack for identifying where the rice he eats was grown based solely on the taste and texture of a single bite.
Dislikes/Fears: While the mistreatment of others will always be the main thing that he dislikes, both the war and even separation of social classes are things that he takes a rather bitter distaste towards. The war for obvious reasons, is killing off innocent people on both sides making it near impossible for him to side one way or the other fully. And the difference in classes is something shown to him even back on his home, where the samurai and the common working class person were shown different levels of respect regardless of their character which in his heart that forces him to choose right over honor is disgusting.
Motivation: While somewhat short term goals such as the downfall of evil organizations like the Raksaka are present in his character his main goal in life is to make not only others happy but also himself. While he is able to enjoy himself and have a good time every now and then he has discovered that in the bliss of his childhood before he knew the horrors the world held he was truly happy but no longer could he allow that as corrupt as everything was. While he knows he will never purge the world of all things corrupt he is willing to try and hopefully pass on his morals so that in the generations to come those that are corrupt will stay away and allow those who wish it to find peace and happiness.

Section 3: Background

Character History: Born on an island known as Ketsu, Kyoken was part of a small village of elite samurai warriors. His father was the commander of this elite group which was a loose ally to Fukamigakure. Kyo grew up as a child, watching his father in marvel and awe. Though he was very odd in nature, he loved his father with all of his heart up until the day he never came back. When Kyo was 7, his father left for a mission assigned to him. Usually his dad would return in a week or two from the tasks, but on the last assignment, this was not to be. The young samurai and his mother waited and waited. Weeks turned to months, and months turned to a year. When he turned 8, his mother suddenly grew very ill and bed ridden. Over the next few years her condition worsened and she eventually passed on. Natural causes is what the local doctors said, but this was not true. Kyo's mother died from grief over her husband never returning. Still only being ten years of age at that point he was forced into an orphanage for several years.

By the age of fourteen he was recognized as an adult due to his lack of parents, rather than going into the normal trades people in his position would go into he found himself on the front steps of the bushido academy his island was famous for. He wanted to learn the ways of the sword and hunt down his father should he still be alive or the people that had killed him. He was not consumed by his oath though, while at first his heart was blackened by his father's sudden disappearance his first master taught him to let go of his anger and to let the natural order of things let all events in his life fall into place. He struggled with these lessons for many years but after a year's worth of training he was fifteen and officially recognized as a Kenko or young blade and decided to become a ronin as was the norm. His plan was to travel the world and learn it's ways for several years and then return back so that he could retell the stories of his adventures and in turn pass on the knowledge he learned to new aspiring sword masters.

His travels would lead him to many places he had never seen before even in books. Being raised solely on the island he had never seen the true strife left on the common people by the was raging all around him. This brought back some of his blackened anger but not in full as it had been before he learned to contain his emotions when assessing situations. This anger however was also not directed at any single person or even at a group of people but at the war as a whole, what was dictated to him by his masters was to do what he could to help the people he met but to never go against the bushido code. He realized quickly however in his one year on his own that this would be impossible to follow to the letter as he had before and would need to bend the pillars that made up his inner person every now and then.

One such time was rather recently when he was camping in the northern forests. One group of people that he found much in common with was the people that most refferred to simply as the 'natives'. One tribe in particular was the Blackfoot tribe. He had lived among them for nearly two months when it happened, a group of people came in the night with flames and blades. While the power of the native people was strong these were shinobi and they came in large numbers. Armed with his naginata he managed to kill off a handful of minor soldiers but eventually he was defeated by a larger opponent that threw him into a small shed which then collapsed around him. He awoke days later still buried in the ashes of the village he had just started to really learn about and while his memories of the fight were hazy he did remember one word that was screamed by the people burning as it seemed the assassin's told them the same word every time the started the kill, 'Raksaka'.

After he assessed all his options he was left with either going around and continuing to help new people while forgetting the loss of the Blackfoot or seek out people who would help him in avenging this slaughter of the innocent. He of course did not even need to think about his decision, he would find a hidden village and with their support wipe out this Raksaka. After some light research he found no real origins to the Raksaka outside of a group slightly tied to the empire several thousand years ago. Even so, to play it safe he decided to go and seek out the rebellion's efforts and with them purge this evil from the world once and for all.

RP Sample: Kyoken looked down the street, seeing all of the people go about their lives. The children played in the road, their parents watched them, businessmen ran to get to their jobs on time. The wind stood still, the sun shone bright, and the sky was cloudless. Kyoken started walking and more was revealed. Men having fun, gambling in the alley, the ramen shop owner smiling as he greeted every customer, the elders playing shogi in the tea shop. The people filled him with warmth. Kyoken entered the tea shop and spectated. When noon came, he ordered a pot for the players and tipped the waitress for her kindness. They invited him to try a game. The battle was intense as pawn fought against knight and as lance fought gold. the move he made was countered with a move equally if not more vital to determining the outcome. Tsumi.
